Steelers rookie guard Kevin Dotson’s knee injury is not serious, according to coach Mike Tomlin. The fourth round draft pick went down in practice on Tuesday with what was thought to be a severe left knee injury but was back on the practice field watching his teammates work out. Tomlin said Dotson and rookie tight end Dax Raymond, who rolled his ankle, are out short-term.
Guard David DeCastro was held out of practice again yesterday. He was hurt Monday. Wide receiver James Washington and defensive lineman Chris Wormley returned to work on a limited basis.
Tomlin says his younger players are working their way through their first training camp, and so far none of them have been real standouts.
The coach says every team in the NFL is trying to find a way to evaluate talent in the absence of exhibition games, and that includes deciding who will make up the special teams.
NFL football operations chief Troy Vincent says they are considering playing playoff games in a bubble environment. The NFL is also constructing an advisory committee made up of former coaches, general managers and players to make decisions on such issues as postponing, moving or even canceling games this season due to the coronavirus. Vincent said all options are on the table.
