During their meeting on Wednesday, the White Township Supervisors discussed a possible forestry committee.
Supervisor Rich Gallo made a motion during the meeting to form a committee to look at the township’s forestry. He also proposed that the committee would be led by the township’s recreation director Ryan Shaffer, and that it would consist of no more than 12 members. Each supervisor would recruit two members, and there would be two other members at large.
The planned committee did not sit well with some of the supervisors, like Gail McCauley, who said that the township did not want to do anything connected with White’s Woods until the ongoing litigation is settled.
Instead of it being voted down, Gallo withdrew the motion. The supervisors did agree that the idea of the committee could come up at a later time. A status conference on the litigation concerning White’s Woods is set for August 17th.
The board did approve asking Township Manager Milt Lady and Shaffer to look into the cost of hiring a consultant for the recreation program. Lady said it would be like a comprehensive plan where they would create a plan for the future for parks, facilities and open spaces in the township.
The supervisors also approved the traditional Indiana Country Club fireworks display on September 6th.
