With his top two quarterbacks coming off of surgery, Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin said in a video conference yesterday that he is impressed with Ben Roethlisberger’s velocity and that he expects Mason Rudolph to take a “significant step this year.”
Tomlin saw the two passing for the first time this year in camp this week at Heinz Field. He said Big Ben’s passes did not have as tight of a spiral as he is used to seeing, but he liked the QB’s progress.
The Steelers are one of three NFL teams to have no players opt out of playing this season, along with the Chargers and the Falcons. Sixty-seven NFL players have chosen to sit out the season because of coronavirus concerns, with the Patriots losing the most, eight.
In the AFC North, the Bengals lost two players, the Browns lost five, (including four offensive linemen), and the Ravens lost two.
