UPDATE: Fire officials with Blairsville Fire Department reported there was no fire showing when they got there, but there was the smell of smoke. Blairsville Fire Chief George “Turk” Berkley said that he asked Homer City and Coral-Graceton to stand by in their stations while Blairsville and Black Lick firefighters investigated. They found no fire in the structure.
In the other incident, Iselin/West Lebanon Fire Chief Brian Schirato said that the fire was a small one that resulted in burnt wires in an electrical outlet. Crews were on the scene for 20 minutes to remove the wiring and secure the breakers at the home.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED:
Fire crews were busy this morning as two fires were reported in the southern portions of Indiana County.
Two fire companies were called out for a structure fire on Whiskey Run Road in Young Township. The fire was reported by Indiana County 911 at 2:52 this morning. Iselin/West Lebanon Fire Department and Coal Run/McIntyre fire department were called out along with Lifestat EMS and the County’s Hazmat team.
At 3:30 this morning, Blairsville, Black Lick, Coral-Graceton and Homer City fire departments were called out, along with Blairsville police, the Hazmat team and Citizens’ Ambulance, for a reported structure fire at a location on South Walnut Street in Blairsville Borough.
No information is available on either fire.
