The Pirates beleaguered bullpen lost its best pitcher yesterday as reliever Nick Burdi was placed on the 45-day injured list with a right elbow injury. Burdi had Tommy John Surgery on the elbow in 2018. He was replaced on the roster by infielder/outfielder JT Riddle, who was activated from the injured list.
In a surprise move, the Pirates have optioned Jose Osuna and Guillermo Heredia to the Altoona practice site to get their roster down to the required 28 players.
