IUP is providing more information concerning the fall semester and the recent re-balancing plan that was announced by IUP president Dr. Michael Driscoll on Monday.
The plan included specific categories of students who would return to campus, and the category of “freshmen” was clarified. According to a news release, “freshmen” means any student who has 30 or fewer credits, including transfer students, and not just students new to IUP. The other categories include:
- Students in clock-hour programs like the Academy of Culinary Arts and the Criminal Justice Training Center
- International students already in the United States
- Students that are in classes that require face-to-face education.
- Students with special circumstances that would require them to have face-to-face instruction.
Upper class students can attend face-to-face classes if the course is either a hybrid or face-to-face course; if they have already registered for the class; and if there are physical seats available for the class, understanding that the classes will follow social distancing guidelines.
Also, any student is welcome to live on-campus whether they are taking all online classes or some in-person and some online classes. If a student wants to stay home and attend classes virtually, they will be able to do so, and the university says they will drop the housing and meal plans with no fee prior to move-in and provide a refund for any money already paid.
