Game Three of the Penguins’ qualifying series with the Montreal Canadiens happens tonight in Toronto. The Penguins won on Monday to even the series at a game apiece.
Sidney Crosby has set the tone for the Pens in the first two games, notching their opening goal each time. Coach Mike Sullivan says Crosby inspires his teammates to elevate their games.
The Penguins are only 1-for-12 on the power play so far in the series and have failed to score twice with the two-man advantage. Nonetheless, they have improved, peppering Montreal goaltender Carey Price with fourteen power play shots on Monday. Sullivan says one of the keys is gaining the offensive zone.
Sullivan says defending Montreal’s aggressive offense has been a challenge, and the Penguins have done so by denying them the puck.
Defenseman Kris Letang said yesterday that attacking Price and screening him is the best way to solve the Montreal netminder.
Letang says Sidney Crosby’s leadership has been – as usual – outstanding.
