The Penguins were only 1-for-7 on the power play last night as they dropped the opener of their best-of-five playoff series with Montreal, 3-2, in overtime.
The Canadiens led 1-0 after one period despite the Penguins’ dominating play, and made it 2-0 early in the second. Sidney Crosby scored a spectacular goal to make it 2-1 in the second and Bryan Rust added a power play goal three minutes later to tie it. But regulation ended with a 2-2 tie and Canadiens’ defenseman Jeff Petry beat Matt Murray on the blocker side to win the game after the Penguins’ had failed on another power play .
Game two of the series is Monday night.
