Sidney Crosby practiced with the Penguins in Toronto yesterday, but it’s not known yet if he will suit up for the exhibition game this afternoon against the Flyers. It will be the only exhibition game before the season restarts with a best-of-five play-in series Saturday against Montreal.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Penguins’ players have been outstanding since their return to the ice.
Sullivan says Crosby was a full participant in practice, and it was a good session for the team overall.
The game today will be the Penguins’ first game since a March 10th 5-2 win in New Jersey. It will also mark the return to play of star forward Jake Guentzel, who has been out since the end of December with major shoulder surgery.
The Canadiens will play the Maple Leafs in an exhibition game tonight, and in Edmonton, the Oilers will play Calgary.
The NHL released a statement saying it concluded training camps with no positive test results for COVID-19. The league said it administered 4,256 tests to more than 800 players between July 18th and 25th.
