The Indiana School Board will meet tonight and on the agenda will be the approval of the district’s health and safety plan.
The plan, which was released on the district’s website on July 15th and discussed during two Academic and Extra-Curricular committee meetings last week, has several options for the district:
- A traditional model which would have students return to the district’s buildings with increased health and safety protocols, including frequent cleaning of classrooms, frequent scheduled hand-washing for students and staff, and temperature checks.
- Utilizing the district’s IDEAL/Cyber education programs to learn online
- A hybrid approach that allows students to attend in person and online.
In the plan on the district’s website, they say they intentionally left out information on social distancing and having students wear masks, saying they want to be sure they have a clear understanding of state guidelines before making any official announcements.
The board will also take up some related matters, including a proposal to grant flexibility for the minimum number of education days and hours due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and a change to the district calendar to delay the start of classes until September 8th.
The meeting starts at 7:00 and will be held online. You can view the meeting through the district website, www.iasd.cc with a link in the calendar section.
