Fire crews across the area were busy last night as heavy rainfall caused many basements to flood.
Five calls for basement pumping were reported last night by Indiana County 911, with the string of calls starting at 8:39 PM on North Brady Street in Blairsville. Coral-Graceton Fire Department was dispatched for that call. Blairsville fire department would be called out eight minutes later to South Walnut Street in the borough for a basement pumping detail. During that call, Black Lick firefighters were called in to standby for Blairsville. Blairsville was called out at 9:17 for another pumping call on Indiana Avenue and they were assisted by Iselin fire department. Bolivar fire department would be called out twice as well, once at 9:22 for a pumping call on McKinley Avenue in West Wheatfield Township and at 10:04 for the same type of call on Caroline Street.
Blairsville also assisted Westmoreland County fire departments with several basement pumping calls in the Derry area.
