During a special meeting of the White Township Supervisors Monday night, the Supervisors addressed parts of a lawsuit filed by Friends of White’s Woods that would stop a timbering project and the removal of invasive plant species in White’s Woods.
The original lawsuit was filed in May and an amended suit was filed in early July. It claimed several violations of the PA Sunshine act were made as several decisions connected to the project were allegedly made in executive session. During last night’s meeting, the supervisors approved releasing details on the executive sessions related to the lawsuit that date back to June of last year, and also ratified the consultant agreement with Millstone Land Management, and the contracts with millstone for the removal of the invasive plant species at both the White Township Rec Complex and a tract of land at White’s Woods.
Township Solicitor Matt Ross with Delaney and Fritz, P.C. said in a statement for the township that they do not believe they violated the PA Sunshine Act.
Ross also said in the township’s statement that the decisions made Monday night would be considered proper decisions by the courts.
In other business, the supervisors also approved a resolution concerning public comment during the meeting. People speaking for public comment will be limited to three minutes, and there will be two 20-minute public comment sessions. The first one will be before the main part of the meeting gets underway and will deal with agenda items only. The second session will deal with non-agenda items.
