Indiana Fire Association members were busy with three calls during the day on Sunday, including a fire near Lucernemines.
The fire was reported on Huckleberry Road, and fire officials say that it came in as a possible lightning strike. Smoke was reported in the structure at 5:58 PM. Officials say that all the occupants and the family pet evacuated the home and no injuries were reported. Fire officials say that they ventilated the building of the smoke and used thermal imaging cameras to find any hot spots. Coral-Graceton and Clymer fire departments were also called in at 6:07 PM to assist.
Firefighters were called out for the two vehicle crash reports earlier in the day. At 11:13 AM, Indiana Fire Association responded to the call where a vehicle went off the roadway and into a utility pole on Mary Ann Road. State Police and Citizens Ambulance were also called out to the scene. No report of wires down. The driver was able to get out of the car thanks to the help of some neighbors and members of the Indiana Fire Association Rescue squad. The driver had minor injuries. REA Energy had to be called in for pole replacement.
The second crash was reported on Hamill Road as two vehicles crashed into each other at 4:11 PM in a t-bone style collision. Both vehicles ended up off the roadway. Both vehicles took on moderate damage. One person was taken to IRMC for treatment
State Police are investigating both crashes.
