The self-response rate for Indiana County in the 2020 census continues to go up.
According to recent statistics from the Census Bureau, Indiana County’s Self-response rate as of July 7th is now 62.1 percent, which is up a tenth of a percentage point from the previous week. That is still lower than where the self-response rate was in 2010, which was at 65.4 percent. By comparison, Jefferson County is at a 58.4 percent self-response rate, Clearfield is 61 percent, Cambria is at 66.1 percent, Armstrong County’s self-response rate is 63.7 percent and Westmoreland County is 69.6 percent.
For Pennsylvania, the self-response rate is 65.2 percent and the national self-response rate is 62 percent.
Speaking of the census, Indiana County will be one of the areas that will start seeing census takers before the week of August 11th, when that is scheduled to start across the country. A news release from the census bureau said that census takers will start in Indiana County on July 20th, and they will visit homes that have not responded by phone, mail or online to the census. They ask that people answer the door and provide answers to the census takers. Doing so will ensure much needed funds come into the area.
