A man from Derry Township is facing a number of charges ranging from soliciting sex from two girls last week to having a marijuana growing operation at his former home in Greensburg.
Reports say 31-year-old Eric Alan Armstrong was charged by state police last Wednesday with reckless endangerment, open lewdness, disorderly conduct and related offenses for an incident on Murtha Way in Derry Township. Court papers say around 3:00 PM that day, witnesses told police that Armstrong was seen driving a Chevy Trailblazer and nearly ran over children at a playground, solicited sex from two girls, and exposed himself to the neighborhood. He fled the scene, but troopers found his vehicle with a flat tire near the home of his mother. Police found him after a brief search.
Police in Greensburg also performed a search of his former home on March 25th and they found an aluminum grow tent and other items that were used to grow marijuana, along with some raw marijuana laid out on a baking sheet in an oven in the home. The drug charges were filed on June 16th.
He will face preliminary hearings on consecutive days for each case. The July 15th hearing will be for the lewdness case and the next day will be the hearing for the drug case. He is right now in Westmoreland County prison without bail.
