Pirates manager Derek Shelton says seeing baseball activities at PNC Park yesterday got him fired up for the return to play. The Bucs gathered yesterday for the first time as a team and players took the field for informal workouts. Formal practices will begin tomorrow.
Shelton says pitchers Steven Brault and Clay Holmes look to be in good shape after spring training injuries and infielder Erik Gonzalez is expected to be fully recovered from a fractured foot when he reports. He was to take a flight arranged by MLB for players from the Dominican Republic and will have to go through the coronavirus protocols before he can play.
