Yesterday, the Pittsburgh Pirates had another round of layoffs as 15 baseball operations staffers were let go.
Reports say this was part of a restructuring effort of that department. The employees were told that they would not be involved in the organizational plans after the end of this season, so they were let go so they would have a lot of time to seek employment elsewhere. The people will be paid through October 31st and receive benefits for the rest of the calendar year.
The Athletic says neither amateur scouting director Joe DelliCarri nor minor league director Larry Broadway were affected by the layoffs and remain on Manager Ben Cherrington’s staff.
