The 158th Indiana County Fair is the latest event to be cancelled in the wake of the Coronavirus Outbreak.
In their announcement, the County Fair Board said that the “safety of our volunteers, exhibitors, vendors and visitors is essential.” Ed Nehrig of the Fair Board said that the board has been debating the situation for a long time.
Nehrig said that another factor in the cancellation is the cancellation of 4-H-related activities at all fairs this year.
Plans are already in the works for the 2021 fair, with the hope that some of the entertainment scheduled for this year will be able to be rescheduled for next year.
This marks the first time since World War II that the Indiana County Fair has been cancelled.
