Honor A.P. won the Santa Anita Derby yesterday to earn 100 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby. Meanwhile, trainer Bob Baffert announced that undefeated colt Charlatan, a favorite for the Derby, will miss the September 5th race with an ankle injury. Baffert earlier this week announced that another Derby favorite, Nadal, had to retire from racing after fracturing a leg.
Indycar racing returned yesterday with Scott Dixon outracing Simon Pagenaoud to the checkered flag at Fort Worth, Texas.
A.J. Allmendinger won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Atlanta. Grant Enfinger won the Truck Series race. Today, Chase Elliot has the pole position for the Cup Series race.
