IUP head men’s golf coach Dan Braun has been named the 2020 Atlantic Region Coach of the Year, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America and presented by Golf Pride Grips. It’s the 14th regional coach of the year honor for the IUP men’s golf program.
Within the last month, Braun has also been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic (PSAC) Men’s Golf Coach of the Year and the IUP Men’s Coach of the Year.
In a shortened 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic, Braun led the Crimson Hawks to three tournament wins in five events, including the 2019 PSAC Championship in the fall. IUP also won the Mercyhurst Fall Invitational and Davis & Elkins’ Snowshoe Invitational.
IUP finished 2019-20 as the top-ranked team in the Atlantic Region for the second straight year.
In two half-seasons after taking the program over in spring 2019, Braun has led the Hawks to five wins in nine tournaments. Braun was one of 31 coaches from the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA to receive region and district coach of the year honors.
