Next month, a sight that many college sports fans will be seen on Pittsburgh’s South Side as the Pitt Panthers football team will hold voluntary workouts at their facilities for the first time since spring drills were cancelled at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pitt’s football players will be welcomed back to campus on June 8th. Under plans from Pitt health experts and local, national and international health agencies, student athletes will undergo an initial quarantine, and if they are cleared, they can take part in the next phase of workout sessions, with groups no bigger than 10 student athletes. There will also be mandatory questionnaires and temperature checks for student-athletes and staffers, utilization of personal protective equipment, and other standards in place.
