IUP sophomore sprinter Dre Carr has been named an All-American in the 60 meters by the United States Track & Field Coaches Association of America.
Carr entered the NCAA championships with the fifth fastest time in Division II, clocking in with a school record time of 6.71 seconds in the 60 meters. Unfortunately, he did not get the chance at a national title as the championships were canceled due to the pandemic.
Carr ran the 60 meters three times during the indoor season, setting an IUP record with a 6.71 time at Edinboro in January. He finished sixth with a 6.79 at the Penn State National Open in February and followed that with a PSAC title, running a meet record time of 6.72 seconds.
This is the IUP men’s program’s second indoor sprint All-America honor, and first since Albert Taylor in the 55 meters back in 1992. The IUP men have 14 total indoor All-America honors.
