After a brief respite for Memorial Day, Indiana County’s road projects resume today, including two new projects, on Philadelphia Street in Indiana and on Route 22 through the Armagh area.
The second phase of a $4.06 million multi-bridge project on Philadelphia Street in Indiana begins on the east end of town, where a small box culvert will be replaced. Traffic will be maintained in both directions on Philadelphia Street from the intersections with 3rd and 4th streets. Access to Cherry Avenue will be closed through October. The first phase of the box culvert replacement began earlier this month near 11th Street.
Also this week, PennDOT says alternating lane restrictions will begin on Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township. The restrictions will be in place today and tomorrow. The work includes expoxy overlays on bridges and the installation of raised pavement markings from West Philadelphia Street in Armagh to the Route 403 Cramer Pike exit. It’s part of a $4.3 million project, with an expected completion by the end of the week.
PennDOT asks drivers to be alert for signs and flaggers and slow down in work zones.
