PennDOT has announced that phase three of a multi-year construction project on Route 422 in Kittanning Township will start again on Monday.
The project will focus on Route 422, Silvis Hollow Road and the Kittanning Elementary Intersection and will consist of relocating and widening the roadway. Silvis Hollow road will remain closed for the duration of the project and minimal traffic restrictions are expected in the other areas as crews will work behind barriers in the closed off area of the project. Two lanes of traffic will be open, one in each direction.
The project’s contractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker out of state college. The $12,270,270 project is expected to wrap up in October of this year. While normal roadwork is still on hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak, but this project was deemed critical work as it addresses safety needs and eliminate roadway restrictions that could impede the ability of movement of essential goods.
