After sitting out the first round of the NFL Draft, the Steelers will have two picks today. Pittsburgh owns the 49th overall pick in round two and 102nd overall in the third round. The draft will wrap up tomorrow with the Steelers holding four picks, including two in round four.
Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree has signed his $15.8 million franchise tender after the 2015 first-round pick had a career season in 2019. Dupree set personal bests with 11.5 sacks, 68 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 17 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He tied for fifth in the NFL in both tackles for loss and forced fumbles, and was tied for ninth in the league in sacks. Dupree and the Steelers have a league deadline of July 15th to work out a long-term contract.
LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was taken first overall by the Bengals in the 2020 NFL Draft last night.
Penn State defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos had been considered a sure first-round draft choice but he went undrafted to the first day. He falls to the second round.
Draft expert Todd McShay was not on ESPN when the NFL Draft began. The 43-year-old ESPN analyst announced on Twitter he is recovering from coronavirus and will miss the 2020 draft.
