Multiple sources report that Steelers GM Kevin Colbert told NFL officials on a conference call on Monday that the league should expand the draft by three rounds because of the difficulties of scouting players during the Covid-19 pandemic. Colbert said the three extra picks would mitigate the possibility of making the wrong draft choices. Teams are permitted to do video interviews of draft prospects but can’t work them out on the field.
In other draft news, the NFL will hold a dress rehearsal for its upcoming virtual draft. According to NFL Network Total Access, the league will do a dry run with all teams on how to execute the draft remotely. The NFL Draft is set to begin April 23rd, but team personnel will be working from home.
