Senator Bob Casey will conduct a “tele-town hall” for western and southwestern Pennsylvania this evening to discuss the Covid-19 pandemic.
It’s the first of a series of events Casey has planned across the commonwealth, targeting residents of 19 counties, including Indiana County and neighboring Armstrong and Westmoreland counties. The other counties included in tonight’s event are of Allegheny, Greene, Fayette, Washington, Beaver, Lawrence, Butler, Clarion, Venango, Forest, Erie, Crawford, Mercer, Warren, McKean and Potter. Dates have not been announced for other regions.
The tele-town hall tonight is at 6 PM. Casey will be joined by Dr. Carol Fox, the chief medical officer of Excela Health. Topics will include the public health and economic effects.
Casey and Congressman Austin Davis of Allegheny County introduced legislation that would provide frontline essential workers in the Covid-19 battle with $25,000 bonuses for those making under $200,000 and $5,000 for workers who make more than $200,000. Called the “Heroes Fund”, the bills would also give one-time bonuses of $15,000 to essential health and home care workers and first responders experiencing severe staffing shortages.
