The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission announced that trout season is open today.
Trout season officially opened at 8:00 this morning, and according to the Fish and Boat Commission, this will allow properly licensed anglers and youth to start fishing and harvesting trout. Anglers and boaters are reminded that social distancing guidelines provided by the CDC and Governor Wolf’s Stay-At-Home order must still be followed. Boaters have to stay six feet from each other, and the commission is recommending that only family members living in the same house share a boat. Those taking part are also being asked to fish close to home instead of travelling a long way to a favorite fishing spot.
The reason why the Commission opened trout season early was to discourage the large crowds that would have come into play on the traditional opening day, which would have made social distancing very difficult. All normal regulations, sizes and limits apply.
