It’s not often these days that we get good news on the health front, but the state Health Department says reported flu activity has decreased so significantly that it is stopping its weekly updates for the season. The last report was posted last week, for the week ending March 28th.
That report showed Indiana County adding only eight more cases from the week before, bringing the final season total to 885. Type B was most prevalent, with 496 cases, compared to 389 type A cases.
Armstrong County added only two cases, to make a final total of 618 cases.
Cambria County had 22 more cases, for a final tally of 1,785.
Clearfield County’s final total is 1,279 flu cases. They added only nine from the week before.
Jefferson County posted eight more cases, to end the season with 695.
And Westmoreland County had a final flu total of 3,636, and increase of 38 cases from the week before.
In all, Pennsylvania’s flu season death total was 102. Those aged 65 and over had seventy deaths, with those between the ages of 50 and 64 the next most-vulnerable, with 21 deaths.
