The Pittsburgh Penguins have a tradition of wearing special warm-up jerseys for St. Patrick’s Day, usually green and Celtic themed. But because of the stoppage of the NHL season, the Pens did not get a chance to wear those warm-up jerseys.
Some good has come out of it, as the pens have auctioned off those jerseys and raised $20,000. The Pittsburgh Penguins foundation will put that money towards local food banks, the salvation army of Pittsburgh, the Western PA Diaper Bank and Rainbow Kitchen.
