There is a new trial date for James Brown, the 35-year-old Rossiter man charged with homicide by vehicle for a fiery July 2018 crash in Home.
Brown is accused of being the driver who crashed into Pikel’s Top Tier Fuels, running over a gas pump and smashing into a building. The car and building burst into flames, trapping and killing 52-year-old Pikels’ employee Melissa Myers of Commodore.
Brown initially claimed another man, Michael White of Punxsutawney, was driving the car but later admitted to state police that he was driving and had taken heroin and smoked marijuana beforehand.
Brown’s trial was to begin yesterday after three previous postponements. The new date is September 21st.
In addition to homicide by vehicle, Brown is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, accidents involving death or personal injury while not licensed, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, two counts of driving under the influence, and a host of traffic offenses.
