Colleagues,
After discussion with Chancellor Greenstein following Governor Wolf’s announcement this evening about mandatory closure of “non life-sustaining businesses,” we want to provide direction to you with what we know right now.
As of now, March 19, and through Friday, March 20, university operations as currently scheduled will continue.
Employees should report to work as they have been directed to do by their supervisor. Employees directly supporting students living in on-campus housing, including those assisting with planned student move-out activities, should plan to continue that work, unless otherwise instructed by their supervisors. Move-out operations and dining operations for students remaining on campus will continue as scheduled.
On-line classes will continue as scheduled. Faculty who are working to move face-to-face coursework to an on-line format should continue that work. Employees who have been authorized to work remotely by their supervisor should continue to do so.
We are sending a message tonight to students to remind them that on-line courses will continue as scheduled, and that those face-to-face classes that are being converted to an on-line format will begin on March 23 as currently planned.
As this situation is extremely fluid, please continue to consult the university website and your university email for official information and updates. We anticipate sending you an update tomorrow (March 20) afternoon.
Thank you for your patience and continued support for our students and for each other.
Dr. Timothy Moerland
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Debra Fitzsimons
Vice President of Administration and Finance
