Homer-Center is 2-0 after shooting a combined 207 at Immergrun in Loretto, for a 104-stroke victory over Portage. Jordy Arone fired a 39 to earn medalist honors, with Reece Coy and Cole Sorber each shooting 41, Elliot Drew 42, and Aiden Darr 44. Drew came close to an eagle on number six, his approach dropping to the bottom of the cup before bouncing out. He birdied the hole and Ty Steffey had a couple of birds as well. Alternates Noah Todd shot 43 and Jett Householder 52.
At Chestnut Ridge, River Valley took down Ferndale by 44 strokes. The Panthers shot a team score of 226, led by medalist Brady Doak’s 36. Luke Rokicsak shot 43, Devin Steeves and Hunter Baird both came in at 48, Nate Beuten at 51, and Noah Carnahan, 53.
The Indiana girls opened with a Section loss against Fox Chapel, by 98 strokes.
The Indiana boys play their first Section match today, against Hempfield at Greensburg Country Club.
