Congratulations to incoming River Valley freshman Emily Kepple, who competed in the USATF Region 2 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships last month at Moravian University in Bethlehem.
Kepple took first place in javelin with a new personal record of 87.10 feet and also took third in pole vault and fifth in discus. This qualified her for the Junior Olympic Nationals in Norwalk, California. Overall, she finished fourth in the Women’s Heptathalon and earned a personal best in six of seven events at the Region 2 meet.
Kepple competed against top athletes from the Three Rivers Association, Mid-Atlantic Association – New Jersey, and Niagara between July 9th and 12th. Athletes had to finish in the Top 8 of their respective individual events, and Kepple did so in four of them.
