Altoona opened the second half of the Eastern league season with a 9-4 thrashing of Reading. Infielder Jack Brannigan homered and had two hits, and Will Taylor and Ivan Brethowr also homered for the Curve.
Connor Oliver starts for the Curve tonight in the second game of the series, with Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin expected to be in the lineup in his first rehab appearance.
Griffin played only briefly for Altoona last season as he rocketed through the Pirates’ minor league system on his way to the majors. He was with the Curve for 21 games, batting .337 in 83 at-bats, with five home runs and 22 RBIs.
