Rachel Livermore’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 9th inning gave the Indiana 14U All-Stars a 4-3 walk-off win over Asia Pacific, a team from the Philippines, at the Little League Softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington.
Indiana had nine hits in the game, led by Tenley Anderson’s two. Livermore tripled and drove in two runs. Samantha Martin doubled, and Sophia Boyer stole two bases.
Rylin Blystone’s groundout brought home a run to tie the game at two in the 7th. Keeping Indiana alive, but Asia Pacific scored in the 9th to go back ahead, 3-2. In the 9th, Anderson’s second hit of the day plated a run to tie it and that was followed by Livermore’s sac fly that won it.
Rylee Mahaffey threw 9 innings for Indiana, striking out 12 and giving up just one earned run on five hits with one walk.
Up next for Indiana is a quarterfinal game this afternoon against the western U.S. champs, the team from Kirkland, the host city. It’s at 3:30 this afternoon.
