The Steelers handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season yesterday, holding off a late charge to come away with a 19-13 win.
Antonio Brown’s 51-yard touchdown reception of a tipped pass with 3:24 left in the game helped the Steelers seal the win, coupled with a fierce pass rush on the Chiefs’ final drive. Brown finished with eight catches for 155 yards and the score. Le’Veon Bell carried the ball 32 times for 179 yards and a touchdown, and Ben Roethlisberger threw for 252 yards and the touchdown to Brown as the Steelers improved to 4-2.
Tackle Marcus Gilbert returned after missing two games with a pulled hamstring, but re-injured the leg and left in the first half. Guard Ramon Foster missed the game with a back injury. Linebacker Vince Williams had two sacks in the first half, but left the game in the third quarter with a hip injury.
The Steelers host the Cincinnati Bengals, coming off a bye, on Sunday.
Multiple media sources are reporting that wide receiver Martavis Bryant has requested that the Steelers trade him because he doesn’t like the way he’s being used. Bryant, who returned this season after being suspended all of last year because of drugs, reportedly is unhappy that second round draft choice JuJu Smith-Schuster is taking away catches from him. Bryant had two catches yesterday and has 17 this season, three more than Smith-Schuster. After a report on the NFL Network last night, Bryant tweeted that he is “happy to be a Steeler and can’t wait to reach number 7 this year,” referring to the quest for a seventh Super Bowl title.
