For the first time ever, an Indiana County team will play in the Little League World Series. Indiana’s 14U All-Stars yesterday won two games in Orange, Connecticut to earn the East Region title. They routed Stafford, 12-3 in the morning. Kaitlyn Houser was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run and four RBIs. Rylin Blystone drove in two runs and Sophia Boyer scored three. Rylee Mahaffee allowed three runs on six hits, striking out six to earn the win.
That victory earned them the right to play the host team, Bonanno, and they took care of them by a score of 7-3. Claire Brewer and Kaitlyn Houser both doubled to give Indiana a three-run lead in the third inning, and Sophia Boyer singled in a run in the fourth. Kaylee Cass then clubbed a three-run home run in the sixth to put it out of reach. Cass got the win in the circle, holding Bonanno to three runs on six hits and striking out five.
