Today is Pennsylvania Park and Recreation day, and White Township is saluting those employees who help keep things going at the many parks in the area.
In a statement, White Township officials recognized Recreation Director Ryan Shaffer along with his 11 office workers and others who keep the township’s six recreation properties well maintained and organized. Those properties include S&T Bank Arena, The White Township Recreation Complex, Kennedy King Park, Getty Heights Park, Fourth Ward park and White’s Woods.
Pennsylvania has more than 6,100 local and state parks across the commonwealth, with typical parks and rec agencies having to manage more than 19 parks and offer more than 175 recreational programs.
