Earlier today, the Indiana County Commissioners approved the 2022 budget.
The budget has $46,141,174 in expenditures and only $41,906,563 in revenues, representing a budget deficit of roughly $4.2 million. The commissioners are holding the line on property taxes for county residents at 4.905 mils.
Commissioner Mike Keith talked about how much of a challenge it was to create a budget that had no tax increases.
As part of the process, the commissioners also authorized budget transfers to close out the 2021 year.
In other business, the commissioners signed a resolution authorizing the law firm of Marcus and Mack to move forward on agreements concerning the federal opioid lawsuit on behalf of the county. This will help the county find out how much they will receive from the $26 billion settlement against Johnson and Johnson and distributors McKesson, AmerisourceBergen, and Cardinal Health.
The Commissioners also announced that the courthouse will be closed on December 24th and 31st for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
