Two local fire departments were recently awarded grant funding that will go towards acquiring new equipment.
The Clymer and Commodore Fire Departments will share $274,285.71 that was awarded from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The grant was created through the Federal Emergency Management Agency in 2001 to help local fire departments across the Commonwealth obtain critically needed resources that are necessary for protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
According to the Clymer Fire Department’s Facebook page, they, along with Commodore, will now be able to provide new turnout coats, pants, helmets, gloves, suspenders, and boots to each member of their department.
