PennDOT officials are suggesting drivers find alternate routes to go around the Wayne Avenue bridge replacement project site today.
Starting at 7:00 AM today and going until 7:00 tonight, there will be some further modifications to traffic patterns at the construction zone near the KCAC as crews will work on setting a box culvert in place for Marsh Run over Wayne and Carter Avenues. There will be closures of up to five minutes at a time expected as a crane is put in place to install the box culvert sections. This part of the project was originally scheduled to happen last Friday but that was delayed due to unknown reasons.
All other closures and detours for the project are still in place, including the closure of Carter Avenue from Wayne Avenue to South 7th Street, the pedestrian detour in front of the KCAC, and the detour for Hospital Road from South Wayne Avenue.
The work is expected to wrap up in October, but the roads will be reopened in time for the Indiana County Fair in August.
