State police in Indiana have charged a Clearfield County man following a robbery Tuesday afternoon in White Township.
Troopers say 22-year-old Nicholas Joseph Holbert of Osceola Mills was charged with a felony count of robbery along with misdemeanor charges of possessing instruments of crime and theft by unlawful taking for the incident along Pompano Drive. At 5:23 p.m., troopers were called to investigate a robbery and met with the victim, identified only as an 18-year-old man from Indiana, who said he was walking away from a group of friends when Holbert placed him in a chokehold, pressed a pistol to the left side of his abdomen, and demanded his wallet and Rolex wristwatch.
Troopers canvassed the area throughout the day and stopped one vehicle in the Regency Mall parking lot; however, Holbert was not in the car. They were also informed by the victim that Holbert returned the watch and $400 sometime overnight.
Holbert was interviewed by police on Wednesday and subsequently arrested and charged. He is awaiting preliminary arraignment.
Note: Tres Amigos, located in the Regency Mall complex, was NOT robbed at any point, contrary to rumors started across several Facebook pages. Restaurant officials confirmed on their Facebook page that they were not robbed in the incident.
