State Representative Jim Struzzi’s bill to ease some of the workforce pressures created by the pandemic was passed unanimously by the House Education Committee yesterday and sent to the full House for consideration.
The bipartisan legislation would establish a $12 million Recovery Fund for adult education providers to “upskill” working-age adults for the post-covid workforce. It would offer competitive grants of up to $500,000 for eligible providers, with priority given to digital literacy, career services, workforce/adult basic education partnerships and tuition assistance.
Struzzi describes the bill as “the definition of an investment,” and says it would especially help those for whom the job market has changed significantly since they first entered it.
