While the early focus in next year’s gubernatorial campaign has been on the Republicans’ numerous candidates and the Democrats’ lone candidate for the race, a Republican who once represented a portion of Indiana County in the State House is running for lieutenant governor.
First elected in the 60th District at the age of only 25, former Representative Jeff Coleman left the House for personal reasons in 2004 after just two terms, but he’s remained in politics the last 17 years. He founded Churchill Strategies, a consulting firm dedicated to electing principled, conservative candidates, in 2005.
Coleman announced his reentry into elected politics late last month. He has said he wants to “rebuild the public square” to its former place on the political stage, where candidates are “political opponents” instead of “political enemies.”
Coleman has adopted the slogan, “Leadership that Brings Us Together.” His website does not yet list a campaign schedule.
