On Monday, the Purchase Line School Board approved changes to the district health and safety policy concerning Covid-19.
The main change concerns quarantining requirements for students who are a close contact to someone who has Covid, with the idea of keeping students in classrooms as much as possible. Superintendent Shawn Ford said that while many students have been asymptomatic, they still have to stay at home for the quarantine period, but the new policy changes that.
Ford said that the new policy will be distributed to parents soon.
In other business, the board approved a resolution that states the board will not raise property taxes for district residents above the 5% mandated limit from the PA Department of Education for the 2022-2023 school year. If the district were to take taxes to that limit, it would be an increase of $20.99 for the average resident, but it is the board’s intent to not raise taxes.
