State Senator Scott Martin has joined a crowded field of candidates competing for the Republican nomination for governor next year.
Martin has been in the Senate since 2016 and is a former Lancaster County commissioner. There are at least ten other GOP candidates either announced or considering announcing a campaign, while the Democrats seem to have settled on their only announced candidate, Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
Martin is a conservative who has been one of the leaders on a number of Republican initiatives, including the enactment of a constitutional amendment limiting the powers of the governor’s office. He said this weekend that he will focus his campaign on the “small things” that can lead to big change.
Martin is a Millersville University graduate and played college football there. He will be visiting Indiana County on Friday, in the company of Senator Joe Pittman, and will be a guest on Indiana In the Morning on WCCS.
