The historic season of rookie Paul Skenes continues as it was announced yesterday that he will be the starting pitcher for the National League at the upcoming MLB All-Star game in Arlington, Texas.
Skenes was notified as NL Manager Tory Lovullo called in to the Dan Patrick Show while he was being interviewed by Patrick, saying the honor was “Well-Deserved”. According to Elias Sports Bureau, he becomes the fifth rookie to start an all-star game, with the last one being Hideo Nomo in 1995. Skenes will also become the first Pirates pitcher in nearly 50 years to start the all-star game.
