During Thursday’s IUP Council of Trustees meeting, IUP’s President offered an update on the IUP NextGen initiative.
In his remarks, Dr. Michael Driscoll said that they were almost finished with the academic portion of the restructuring plan, and he talked about what needs to be done to complete that portion.
Driscoll also talked about the declining enrollment and revenue, as he reported that 1,656 first-year undergraduate students were welcomed in August, and they represent the class of 2025, which will mark the University’s 150th anniversary. He did say that the Vice President for Enrollment Management Dr. Patricia McCarthy are working to try to raise retention rates and making sure students have what they need to succeed.
In other business, the IUP Council of Trustees approved fee increases for students. This includes a $100-per-semester fee for all students enrolled at the IUP satellite campuses in Punxsutawney, Northpointe and Pittsburgh-East. The fee will cover telehealth and in-person health services, covid-19 vaccines and flu kits or over the counter health services on the regional campuses.
