Two brush fires were reported on Wednesday by Indiana County 911.
The first was a brush fire in the 200 block of Gompers Avenue in Indiana Borough at 11:44 AM. Fire officials say that the fire started due to the extreme heat, and the fire was described as relatively minor.
The other brush fire was at 5:57 PM along Wrigden Run Road in Rayne Township, with Marion Center and Plumville fire departments responding. Marion Center fire officials reported on the department’s Facebook Page that a fire from a burn pile spread to some nearby brush. About an eighth of an acre was burned by the fire. These fires bring the total to 36 brush fire calls in Indiana County this year.
First responders were also called out for seven calls for utility lines down on Wednesday. Those calls started at 12:02 in Conemaugh Township, and included locations in White, Burrell and Young townships along with Blairsville Borough. As of right now, power outages connected with those calls have been restored.
